College Credit, First Year of High School?
So at my high school, we have a really great visual and performing arts program. Last week were the auditions for theatre company (theatre performance, specifically,) so I thought hey, why not audition? To audition, we had to memorize two one-minute monologues, one dramatic, one comedic. Easy enough. Monday afternoon came around, I had my monologues, I auditioned- and then the next day I found out I got in, one of seven freshman theatre performance majors. For the record, there were almost six hundred students in my eighth grade graduating class. Now, every day until five I have theater classes. Mondays and Wednesdays I have a class specifically for everyone new to the program, Fridays I have a class with this professional theater company, and then Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm in Advanced Acting. It's a course offered by a college nearby; a woman came from the college to give us the class. It's kind of funny, actually, because otherwise my first chance for college credit would be sophomore year, in Euro AP.
Yesterday was the first class in this course, and I have to say it was a lot of fun. She told us, basically, that as actors we are storytellers, and then she gave us five minutes to pick a true story to tell- it could only be a minute and a half long. My story was about something that had been bugging me lately- this girl in my carpool had decided she needed to get to school early to talk to her friends... So we started leaving at 7:15, and arriving at 7:25. School starts at 7:45.
Needless to say, I'm quite tired lately.
